First visit for under-fives

A short appointment whose only job is to make the room ordinary.

What it is

There is nothing to this appointment and that is the point.

Your child sits with you, the chair goes up and down, and we look at the teeth if they will let us. If they will not, we book another one and try again. Nobody is held still and nobody is talked into anything.

By the third of these, most children sit in the chair on their own.

Questions about this treatment

Why is there no charge?

Because a child who has been three times before anything needs doing is a different patient from one who arrives with toothache at seven. It pays for itself later and we would rather not put a price on the first step.

Can I bring a sibling?

Yes, and it usually helps. Children who watch an older brother or sister go first tend to do the same.
