We count the teeth out loud, look at each one, and show your child the mirror. Peter takes most of these and is unhurried about it.
If there is nothing to do, we say so and book the next one in six months. If there is, we explain it to you and to your child separately, in different words.
We do not carry out treatment on a child at a first appointment.
Yes. The first few appointments are about the room being ordinary rather than about the teeth. Sitting on your lap and looking at the chair counts as a successful visit at this age.
Around the second birthday, or earlier if you have noticed something. Early appointments are short and inexpensive, and they are what stops the first visit being an emergency.
